Cycling Roller Tricks
Before turbo trainers bike riders used to get their winter training indoors on a peculiar instrument of torture called Rollers. With immediate way of securing the bike to the rollers a rider was forced to pay as much attention to balancing their bike on the spot as to actually doing their training routine. Going flat out for sprints or intervals was more of a challenge as there was always a very real risk that the bike may slide sideways off the rollers and onto the floor. That on its own isn't such a huge problem but the spinning bike wheels coming to a sudden halt may propel the rider forwards or worse they may fall onto the spinning roller drums which have a habit of melting straight through clothing or even skin when they are at full rotating speed.
